Alumni and Friends
The graying of the population, the increased ability to save vulnerable infants and prolong life for people with a variety of illnesses and a growing focus promoting participation in everyday life means that occupational therapy is in high demand around the world. This certainly is an exciting time to be an occupational therapist!
Occupational therapy’s growth and development is reflected in vast changes in assistive technology, expansion into new and varied practice settings and continued advances in research. Increased complexity in everyday practice has led to an imminent shift to entry to the profession at the doctoral level. Even with these changes, the core of the profession remains helping people of all ages participate in everyday occupations despite the effects of illness, injury, aging, disability, or challenging life circumstances.
The future is bright for the occupational therapy program at Colorado State University. We are recognized by U.S. News and World Report, as a top-10 program and by the University as a Program of Research and Scholarly Excellence. Our outreach programs, the Assistive Technology Resource Center, and the Center for Community Partnerships, are recognized as world-class. Each year we graduate approximately 50 new practitioners and 2 or 3 new researchers from our PhD program in Occupation and Rehabilitation Science.
Numerous awards, gifts and grants support and enhance our teaching, research and outreach and keep CSU-OT on the leading edge of change. Many of you, our alumni and friends, are long-term contributors to our program. We rely on your continued support to provide scholarships for students and support for research and outreach.
Please review our department priorities. You may contribute online or by printing the fund drive form (.PDF file). The completed form with your gift can be mailed to the Colorado State University Foundation, P.O. Box 1870, Fort Collins, CO 80522-1870.
