Alumni and Friends

Dear Alumni:

Occupational Therapy is in the news – our profession is expected to be in high demand in the coming years according to U.S. News & World Report. It certainly is an exciting time to be a part of the profession!

Occupational therapy’s growth and development over the years has included a shift to master’s degree entry to the field, vast changes in the field’s use of assistive technologies, expansion into new and varied practice settings, and continued advances in research. Even with these changes, the core of the profession remains consistent with a focus on helping people of all ages participate in everyday occupations despite the effects of illness, injury, aging, disability, or challenging life circumstances. Occupational Therapy at Colorado State University continues to build upon the hard work, vision and accomplishments of the many faculty, students, practitioners, and researchers who have come before us. Many of our alumni and friends are among the long term contributors to our program and profession.

The future is bright not only for occupational therapy but for our program here at Colorado State University. CSU will continue its central role in preparing OT practitioners and scholars for the future and in building the profession’s knowledge base through research. The numerous awards and grants we have received over the years support and enhance our teaching, research and outreach activities while keeping our program on the forward edge of change within a dynamic profession. With your help, we will continue to innovate and collaborate with community, state, national, and international partners.

In one area we are asking for your assistance: OT scholarships. Students are our most valuable resource and they are deserving of support. Our goal is to increase the number of both need-based and academic scholarships. Currently we have six scholarships designated for OT students. Our goal is to add a total of $20,000 to the existing scholarships, and with your help, add a new $20,000 scholarship. Please review our list of giving opportunities which includes several scholarship funds developed in honor of retired faculty members who contributed to our program as outstanding teachers and mentors. To contribute, please print then complete the fund drive form (.PDF file). If necessary, click here to download Adobe Reader. Mail the fund drive form with your gift to the Colorado State University Foundation, P.O. Box 1870, Fort Collins, CO 80522-1870. Or, you may give online by clicking the CHHS Giving link. If you have any questions regarding any of our scholarships or the program, please call me at 970-491-6253. I would be happy to speak with you. On behalf of our Occupational Therapy students, faculty and staff, thank you for your support!
